According to Jim Murphy, Fannie and her husband Arch Lee Coffman married December 22, 1909 and had seven children. They lived in the Detroit, Michigan area and Arch was a banker. He passed away while some of the children were small and Aunt Fannie had to work to support the family. She worked at Hudsons, a large department store in Detroit.
Jan Fielding Coffman says: I can add that when the department store was downsizing, they were going to let (granny) Fannie go. She went into the office and told the mgr that they should release a woman who has a husband to help support the family, she didn't and she needed that job to put food in her childrens' mouths! She kept the job and they kept that little spitfire on for many more years.

John Campbell Hutcheson married Laura Overhauals on December 31, 1917. They had 4 children. John was a smart businessman. He had a law degree and was an accountant. He was a part owner of Tennessee-Carolina Transportation, Inc. and worked there for years before his retirement. His remains were entombed in Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum. He lives on Lone Oak Drive in Nashville and had enough room to keep some animals, he kept some milk goats in order to goat milk to drink.

My grandmother (Edith Hutcheson Richmond) told me that she was very close to her sister, Clemma, and was badly affected by Clemma's accidental death at age 14. According to my grandmother, a fellow student at Burritt College in Spencer, Tennessee knocked Clemma down, and she fell on her books, evidently bursting her spleen. She bled to death that day.

My grandmother was very dear to me. I spent several weeks in several summers with my Richmond grandparents in Cleveland, Tennessee. They knew of my love for baseball, and enrolled me in little league at least a couple of times. We'd run up into the Smoky Mountains occasionally, or go down to Rock City or up to Aunt Mattie's home. They took me to a family reunion in Spencer at least once. Granddad also would take me fishing on Tennessee River lakes.

I remember Grandmother as nurturing, and I remember her smile - and I long for the taste of her dill seed bread. She taught grade school, and I learned about the Trail of Tears and other stories of American history from her. In later years, she was an avid bird-watcher and was able to attract many birds to her garden window.

I suppose that her nurturing attitude toward me is sadly ironic, considering that, as a mother, she was so dedicated to the overwhelming care of her physically and mentally disabled son Joe Robin (my namesake, who died at 17) that she was not particularly nurturing to my father and his sisters when they were young.

She carried pain from her younger years throughout her life. She was not able to talk about Joe Robin; I never learned where his name came from. She never got over her anger toward the girl who tripped her 14-year-old sister Clemma, causing a fall from which she died with a ruptured spleen. Nor could she let go of her bitterness toward her step-mother, who was disliked (to put it mildly) by all of her siblings, and who repeatedly threatened to send Edith to an orphan home.

Edith Kuykendall Hutcheson married Clarence L. Richmond on July 23, 1923. They had four children. They lived in Cleveland, Tennessee where Clarence had a successful insurance agency. Since Edith was the youngest daughter, she had the youngest husband. Her sisters were all widows. In their retirement years Clarence and Edith would take Mattie, Fannie and Mary on long trips through the west and other parts of the country. They were all big talkers and all would try to tell you about the trips at the same time.

Leander Travis Hutcheson, Jr. (know as L.T. Jr., and later, just as L.T. ) was born in Pikeville, Tennessee in 1904. He was the last of the 10 children of Lee Hutcheson (L.T. Sr.) and Olive Irene Kuykendall. His mother died when L.T. was just 4. Two years later, his father married Alma Freiley, who was not at all motherly, and who was pretty much despised by all of L.T. 's siblings. I can't say exactly how L.T. got along with his mother, but I know that his sister Edith (my grandmother) carried bitterness about her stepmother to her (Edith's) death in 1996, and reported that her stepmother often threatened to send the three children who remained at home to an orphanage.
L.T. was widowed three times. His first marriage was to Inez Ricketts in 1925. They had one daughter, Betty Carolyn, who married Budd Alexander, and who was still alive (as far as I know) at age 91 in 2017. Inez died at age 28 in 1936.
L.T.'s second wife was Rosebud McBroom. During World War II, they had two sons, L.T. III (known as 'Travis'), and Larry. Rosebud died in 1947.
L.T. and his third wife, Betty Koon had four children in the 1950's: Mary Elizabeth, Martha Frances, James Noel (he married Maurene Henry and they had LT IV), and John Lee (who was 30 years younger than his oldest half-sister, Betty).
LT Jr. was a district manager for Hoover Vacuum Company. He lived in Chattanooga, TN and Birmingham, Alabama.
After his third marriage, L.T. didn't maintain much contact with his siblings, who, were, for the most part, very close. Clarence Richmond, Jr. (L.T.'s nephew) is close to Betty Alexander's age, and did know Betty, but he met several of L.T.'s younger children for the first time at L.T.'s funeral in 1999. Clarence shared the family tree with his cousins at that time, and reported that several were quite unaware that they had so many close relatives.

Archie was an avuncular gentleman with a great love of family, and was loved by many. He lived in the Detroit area his entire life, near his extended family, whom he hosted at his home frequently. I only met him a couple of times; the last at a small family reunion he hosted at his home in about 1998. He was patriotic, and proud of his military service. In the last few years of his live, he maintain an email discussion list, and send frequent emails to friends and family. Many were written by Archie or his sister, Helen, and he passed on other family messages and topical message of the day. The messages were quite clever and interesting, and non-infrequently displayed his conservative political bent.
