Jan. 14, 1649, Juriaen Bestval and Jochem Kettelheym took over from Evert Pels the remaining term of the lease, till May 1, 1653, of the farm formerly occupied by Symon Walichsz; Oct. 8, 1651, Jochem Kettelheym was released from his obligations and Juriaen Bestval became solely responsible. This farm was on Papscanee Island and was leased from May 1, 1653, to May 1, 1658, by Pieter Hartgers, and in 1658 sold to Volckert Jansz and Jan Thomasz.

In the summer of 1642, Killian engaged the ship DeHoutwyn, under Captain Adriaen Dircksen, to transport farm servants and a pastor from Amsterdam. The ship sailed on June 6, 1642 with twenty-four passengers as follows:

Hans Jansen Van Nordstrandt wed Reymerig and lived at Nordstrandt Island in present
Germany. They had three children; Jan, Simon, and Marritje. Shortly after Marritje’s birth in 1636, the family came to America and Hans took up farming at Amersfoort (Brooklyn) on Long Island. Reymerig died soon thereafter then Hans married Jannetje Van Leeuwen at New Utrecht, Long Island and had seven children by her. Maritje was eventually bound out to tavern keeper Phillip Gerritssen and in 1653, at the age of seventeen, wed Juriaen Westfall.
