Notes: "Kentucky Sam" McCutcheon is person #36 at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jcraven/people/McCutcheon.htm which tells the story of Sam and Sarah's meeting when she visited her brother Daniel in Floyd Co, Indiana. This account puts Sam's birth in 1797 in Bourbon Co, KY, and says that Sam and Sarah were married in Kentucky, where she was raised. Samuel married Sarah Reasor on 6 Apr 1824 in Spencer Co, KY. Sarah (daughter of Michael Reasor, Jr and Anna Herbert) was born on 14 Nov 1805 in Little Mount, Spencer, KY; died on 20 May 1854 in Scottsville, Floyd, IN; was buried in Mount Eden Cemetery, Scottsville, Floyd, IN. 4. | William McCutcheon was born in 1739 in Augusta Co, VA; died on 27 Dec 1785 in Augusta Co, VA; was buried in North Mountain Burying Ground, Augusta Co, VA. Notes: There is some confusion about the various people named William and Samuel McCutchan (or McCutcheon) in 18th century Augusta County, Virginia. (At one point, Augusta County covered most of central, south, and west Virginia, including what is now West Virginia, and parts of Kentucky.) This William appears to have been involved in two significant battles - the Battle of Bushy Run in 1863, which was part of Pontiac's Rebellion, and the Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774, (where other ancestors of mine figured more prominently), which was part of what is called Lord Dunmore's war, and is where he recieved posthumous credit by the DAR as a solier in the American Revolution. William married Eleanor Fulton. Eleanor (daughter of James Fulton and Sarah Ann Lockhart) was born on 17 Dec 1740 in Augusta Co, VA; died in 1824 in Augusta Co, VA; was buried in North Mountain Burying Ground, Augusta Co, VA.
