Peter Zetty was born in 1735 in Lancaster County, Pa to John Jacob (Johannes Cetyety) ZETTY and Frena OBERHOLTZER.

He married Barbara Ann (Rife) Reif Married: ABT 1754 in Rapho Township, Pennsylvania.

Peter Zette is the German name. Peter and Barbara lived in Rapho Township, Pennsylvania and then moved to Washington Co, Maryland and then to Rockingham Co, Virgina. He wrote his will in 1799 and his son Peter, II was executor. Peter's sister stayed in Pennsylvania. There is a Zetty graveyard in Rockingham Co, Virginia and it is on State Road 798 on Tenth Legion. His name is recorded in deeds in Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania and in Rockingham Co, Virginia. He is on the 1788 Militia Voucher Roster. Four of his sons are named in the book "Tenth Legion Tithables, Rockingham County, Virginia." His children are also named in his will 1/10/1799 In Rockingham County Court 1800. His daughter Catherine and her husband Henry Miller contested the will.

"Mennonite Historians of Eastern Pennsylvania Quarterly," in an article on the Milford Township, Volume 3, discusses, the 1790, West swamp Church. The original building, was moved to a lot the Musselman's conveyed to the Trustees for a meeting house and burial place. The Trustees were Peter Zetty, Christian Hunsberger and Michael Shelly. This is the site of the present West Swamp Church.
