ABOUT 1793 ADAM AND HIS SON, JACOB, PURCHASED SOME LAND ON THE CEDAR CREEK, A TRIBUTARY OF THE JACKSON RIVER AND ABOUT 20 MILES UPSTREAM FROM COVINGTON, VA. THIS IS SITUATED IN PRESENT BATH CO.,VA.
IN 1803 ADAM AND NANCY AND THEIR CHILDREN MOVED TO MASON CO., THE KIMBERLINGS TRAVELED FROM COVINGTON, VA. TO CHARLESTON, VA IN A TWO-WHEELED OX CART ON THE ARMY POST ROAD. FROM THE FALLS BELOW CHARLESTON, THEY FLOATED DOWN THE KANAWHA RIVER ON A RAFT TO GRIMM'S LANDING. AFTER MAKING A SLED FROM THE RAFT, THEY HITCHED UP THE OXEN, WENT OVER TWO HILLS AND SETTLED ON THIRTEEN >MILE CREEK.
